LONNIE LEE JAMES, was born May 19, 1947 in Memphis, TN to loving parents the late Clarence James and Mattie Hearn James. Yielding his life unto Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, Lonnie first joined Holy Temple COGIC and later Bountiful Blessings Temple of Deliverance trusting his spiritual guidance under the ministry of the late Bishop Gilbert E. Patterson. After graduating from Hamilton High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he received many awards and honors and later served valiantly in the Vietnam War. After the war, Lonnie worked diligently for GMC, Nat Buring Foods and later retired from Metro Foods. He was united in holy matrimony to Shirlene Thompson James. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Pamela James, Veronica James Lewis (Jerald), and Tiffany James Simmons. He is also survived by four sisters, Inez Minor (John) of Houston, Texas, Linda Hodge (Devone), Helen Ivy, Ruth Pearson and three brothers, Aaron James (Hazel), Lorenzo James, Ronald James (Sonja) and seven grand-children, Brian Simmons, Michael Simmons, Anna Simmons, Brittany James, Brandon Lomax, Elijah Lewis, and Gabrielle Lewis, also a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service: May 1 at 1 p.m. at Temple of Deliverance COGIC, 547 Mississippi Blvd., with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. R. S.
