SPRINGFIELD, IL - Darlene C. Massa, 86, of Springfield, Ill., died at 2:05 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Riverbirch Senior Living in Springfield.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in East Alton, Ill., to Lawrence and Amelia Sanker Granger. She married Galen Franklin Massa on May 27, 1950, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1981.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane (David, Jr.) Wagner of Athens; one son, James (Georgiann) Massa of Elmhurst; three grandchildren: Gail Ann, Emily Nicole and James George Massa; one sister, Luanne Gray of Carlinville; and several nieces, nephews and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Marlene Tudor; and one brother, Lawrence Granger, Jr.
Darlene was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church. She was an avid Cardinal, Bears and Bulls fan. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking and traveling.
Darlene retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company. She then worked for Pease's Candy, H.M. Buckley and Sons and Flowers and Treasures.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Staab Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating.
Burial will follow at Mayfield Memorial Cemetery in Carlinville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Laurel United Methodist.
