Carl Edward Brooks 72, of Westmoreland, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 9, 2015, in Saint Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Monday, October 12, 2015, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Rev. Darrell L. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Memorial Gardens. He was born September 25, 1943 in Huntington, a son of the late Everett Shafer and Emma Wilson Brooks. He retired from the Huntington Police Department with 28 years' service, a member of the FOP, and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Janet Cremeens Brooks; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl E. Brooks, Jr., and Karen of Huntington; two sisters, Lois DeMattie, and Rita Wray; one brother and sister-in-law Paul and Joan Brooks all of Huntington; one granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Josh Berry of Williamstown, WV; one grandson, Matthew Brooks of Huntington; one great-granddaughter, Riley Kate Berry, and several cousins and other family members. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday October 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
