Arthur A. “Sonny” Remillard, 89, of Franklin died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation in Franklin. He was the beloved husband of Katherine “Eileen” (Maroney) Remillard.

Born in Woonsocket, RI on January 21, 1923, he was the son of the late Wilfrid and Leda (Vadnais) Remillard.

Mr. Remillard was a resident of Franklin for the past 66 years. He graduated Bellingham High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army for 3 years during WWII.

Before his retirement, he worked as a recruiter at the former Crosby Valve & Gauge in Wrentham. After retirement, he owned an antique store and furniture restoration business for 15 years. A baker by trade, Mr. Remillard worked, in his younger years, at his family’s business, Remillard’s Bakery in Bellingham.

Mr. Remillard was a call firefighter for the Town of Franklin during the 1950’s. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, skating and being with family and friends. He was an avid sports enthusiast with the Bruins, Red Sox and golf being among his favorites.

Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, Michael Remillard of Grand Lake Stream, ME, Kathleen Blanchard and her husband William of Franklin, Wilfred Remillard and his wife Kathleen of Harwich, Mary Lomberto and her partner David Wood of Bellingham, Anne Rohnstock and her husband James of Medfield and Richard Remillard and his wife Yvonne of Franklin.

He is also survived by ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters, Claire Johns of Venice, FL, Constance Chicoine of Uxbridge and Florence Remillard of Falmouth and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Beatrice, Roland, Bertrand and Maurice Remillard and Annette Masse.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin 131 Main Street (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Thursday, January 17 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Jude’s Church 86 Main Street in Norfolk at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
