Michael was a policeman in Chicago. He married Margaret Gorivan on 28 Aug 1877 in Joliet and they had one child named Henrie who died young (22 Nov 1878 - 5 Mar 1879). Maggie died in October of 1879 so Michael lost both his son and wife within eight months.
He then married Ellen K. Feeny on 7 Sep 1881 in Chicago and they had six children:
1. John Henry Joint (20 Jul 1882 - 14 Jun 1936). He married Leora L. Fitch.
2. Mary J. Joint (Jan 1886 - aft 1940). She married Stephen J. Lawlor.
3. Rosella Joint (abt 1887 - 4 May 1891)
4. Gertrude C. Joint.
5. Leo Joseph Joint (13 Mar 1893 - Aug 1959) He married Clara M. Seabold.
6. A son whose name is not known. (29 Sep 1897 - bef 6 Jun 1900).
