Arlene Heineman, 96, of Denver, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Denver Sunset Home.

Arlene was born July 3, 1919, in Bennington Township, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Hein) Poock. She attended school in rural Black Hawk County through the 8th grade.

On October 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Heineman at St. John's Lutheran Church-Maxfield.

The couple farmed and raised their family east of Denver. They owned and operated "The Rite Spot" in Denver from 1950 to 1974. Lawrence passed away in July of 2006, and Arlene continued to live in Denver, spending the past seven years as a resident of the Denver Sunset Home.

Arlene is survived by a granddaughter; Dawn (Jeff) Riley of Denver and a grandson; Tadd (Lisa) Hennings of Denver, four great grandchildren; Kelli, Kristina and Kurtis Smith and Mathew (Kelly) Hennings, and one great great grandchild; Navaeh Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, two daughters; Mary Jean Heineman and Carol Wagner, one sister; Velma Bruns and two brothers; Ed and Art Poock. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver with burial in the church cemetery.
