SIDNEY — Joanne L. Kress, 69, of Sidney, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:47 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Clifford and Marguerite (Cron) Nishwitz. On July 3, 1965, in Piqua, Ohio, she married the love of her life, Darrell R. Kress, which created a beautiful marriage of 50 years, and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Travis and Annie Kress, of Sidney, Todd Kres,s of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Troy Kress, of Sidney; one brother: Daniel and Patricia Nishwitz, of La Follette, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and one on the way, Taylor Kress, Trevor Kress, Trajan Kress, Tytus Kress, Teaghan Kress, Tessa Kress and Kole Kress.
Joanne was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua. Joanne and Darrell served the Lord on staff in the ministry of the church as custodians for many years.
She was employed at Ohio Bell in Piqua for three years, Evenflo (Quester) in Piqua, Ulbrich's IGA and Kroger in Piqua. Joanne was a loving and caring homemaker and loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed being outdoors and especially cutting the grass. She loved boating and traveling, especially the many motorcycle trips with she and Darrell across the country.
A celebration of Joanne's life will be held Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua, Ohio, with the Rev. Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.
Friends may call Wednesday at the church from 5 to 8 p.m.
