Earl F. Christensen, age 89, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Appleton Medical Center. Earl was born in Appleton on October 31, 1926, to the late Peter and Thoretta (Tschank) Christensen. After high school, Earl proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. On May 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dolores "Kewpie" Muench. The couple has enjoyed 70 years together. Earl owned and operated Christensen and Wisnet Heating and Cooling for many years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed going to the casino, going to the YMCA, and playing cards with his buddies. Earl was a member of the Appleton VFW Post as well as Appleton Legion Post 38. Earl was also a lifetime member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton.Earl is survived by his wife Dolores, Appleton; three children: James (Ann) Christensen, Menasha, Mary (Steve) Gutreuter, GA, and John (Deanna) Christensen, Hortonville; 8 grandchildren: John and Annie Gutreuter, Scott (Sarah), Peter, Michael (Tiffany), and Daniel Christensen, and Andrew (Kendra) and Jessica (Brett) Hermsen; 4 great-grandchildren: Ava, Elle, Leon, and Abby; 2 sisters: Ruth Fillhouer, MN, and Thoretta "Teddy" Wilson, CA; a brother William (Patricia) Christensen, Appleton; and brother-in-law Harry (Joan) Muench, Appleton. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters: Laverne, Jane, and Grace; 3 brothers: Robert, Charles, and Peter; a son William, and a daughter Susan.A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 414 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating, followed by full military honors performed by Appleton Legion Post #38. Friends and relatives may visit at the church on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
