Nancy Kay Karr Maiers, Williams Bay, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 19, 2016. She was born Nov. 24, 1942, in Sandwich, Illinois, to Florence Gilbertson Scent and Robert Scent. Nancy was the third of three daughters. She spent time growing up in Plano, Illinois, and later attended Austin High School. She was raised by her mom and stepdad, James Karr. A woman of faith, Nancy was a homemaker who was known for her baking, sewing and love of children. She and her husband moved to Williams Bay in 1971 where, over the course of 45 years, they owned and operated Chippewa Resort, Normandie Hotel, Bay Springs and the Bay Warehouse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Maiers, in March 2016; and a grandson.
