Dennis Lani Hinch, age 74, of Chapel Hill, passed away, Sunday, September 25, 2016, at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, due to complications from Parkinson's disease, plus heart and kidney failure. Dennis was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 25, 1942. He is the husband of Dollie Graham Hinch of Chapel Hill, NC. He was predeceased by their son, Jeremy Graham Hinch, who died on August 25, 2016. He was the only son of the late Hanibal L. and Amy Hinch and brother of Barbara L. Salazar.

Dennis was a nurse who enjoyed working at Shriners Hospital for Children in Honolulu. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii. Besides living in Honolulu, the Hinch family also lived in Kona, Hawaii, Chicago, Illinois, and finally Chapel Hill.

Dennis was an avid reader and writer who did research on his family history, especially his native Hawaiian roots, and kept up to date on current events as well as various topics in science, history, etc. After retiring, he spent time keeping up with family and friends, surfing the internet, and watching football games on TV.

Dennis also leaves behind a host of relatives, including cousins, nieces and great nephews, as well as members of the extended Graham family and friends from Hawaii, Chicago and North Carolina. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Markham Memorial Gardens 4826 Trenton Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
