Gennaro "Geno" Ruggiero, 89, of Allentown, PA, peacefully entered The Church Triumphant on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Twp. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine (Schwinge) Ruggiero, MD. Geno was born on January 27, 1927 in New Haven, CT. He was the son of the late Matteo & Catherine (Vietro) Ruggiero.

In 1945, he was drafted in the Army at the end of World War II. From 1947 to 1951, he attended the University of Connecticut where he participated in ROTC. During the Korean War, Geno was activated in the Army and stationed in Germany as 1st Lieutenant. After the service, he enrolled in active Reserves where he earned the rank of Captain in the Military Government.

Eventually he settled in New York City where he worked as financial analyst for major NY corporations. He earned his Master's Degree in Finance from New York University as well as receiving his PhD in corporate finance and taught at NYU Graduate School of Business. Geno became a licensed investment administrator to many individuals and groups and was quite active in various community projects.

Geno, Elaine and their two sons moved to PA, where they purchased Goose Pond Run Lodge in Canadensis, PA. In 1978, he received his Real Estate Broker designation and founded Ruggiero Real Estate, Blakeslee, PA. Within one year, he became the first CENTURY 21 franchise broker in NE PA. Soon CENTURY 21 Ruggiero R.E. had become known locally and throughout the CENTURY 21 system as an independently owned multi-office system with a professional approach to marketing Pocono properties. Today, it is known as CENTURY 21 Select Group, largest CENTURY 21 office in NE PA. In 1990, Geno was elected President of Pocono Board of Realtors. Being active in community and professional services having served on several Board of Directors including Bear Creek Camp and Trail Blazer Camps of NYC.

His love of travel which he enjoyed with his beloved wife, Elaine, took them all around the world. Egypt, Spain, England, Australia, Germany, Alaska as well as visiting family in Italy and most US states. Not only did he focus on the needs of his family, but also the concerns and compassion for his company staff and friends. He was a wonderful and generous gentlemen and he leaves a legacy that his shoes will be hard to fill.

Survivors: Sons, Matthew Ruggiero and Walter Ruggiero and his wife Sharon; Grandchildren, Dylan and Cheyanne Ruggiero; and Brother, Anthony Ruggiero and his wife Josephine.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday October 3, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus PA 18049. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown and in the church on Monday from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
