He was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of the late William Ashford and Mona Madelyn Ross Riddle of Belmont.
David was a 1962 graduate of Pennsboro High School and attended WVU, studying engineering. He then joined the U.S. Army National Guard, serving as a Professional Marksmanship Instructor. He had been an engineer with the WV Dept. of Highways, Owner/Operator of Red Rock Engineering, D&R Engineering and Global Engineering firms. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, in Martinsburg, W.Va. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and his pets. He was a member of Harrisville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Genetta Jenkins Riddle; one son, Steven Patrick Riddle of Morgantown; one daughter, Christina Riddle Varga (Victor) of Alexandria, Va.; step-children, Terri Kennedy and Jonathan Kennedy; grandchildren, Blake Michael Riddle, Aidan William Patrick Varga, and Keira Madelyn Katherine Varga; step-grandchildren, Ashleigh Kennedy and Lexi Lin Kennedy; and brother, Keith Riddle of Parkersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at Harrisville Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
