The youngest son of Caroline Haldeman (Reimold) and Russell Gustave Kohler, Jack was born Dec. 27, 1931, and raised in the Brewery-town section of Philadelphia. He graduated from Murrell Dobbins Career & Technical Education High School in 1951 before joining the U.S. Navy.

Jack is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 57 years, Mary Frances (Windham) Kohler; three daughters - his pride and joy, Bonnie O'Brien (Kevin), Kim Kelly (Timothy), and Karen Kohler (Marci Gambarota); and four grandchildren - the sparkle of his eyes, T. Sean Kelly, Jaclyn M. Kelly, Daniel P. O'Brien, and Mollie Kohler O'Brien. He also is survived by his sister, Dorothy Butz (William); sisters and brothers-in-law, and twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather; his brother, Russell; his dear sister-in-law, Terry; a niece and nephew; and numerous Navy comrades; and animal companions.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as an electrician on the USS Brown, DD546 from 1950 through 1954 in China and Korea. As a Korean War veteran, Jack was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for his service during the period of the Cold War for promoting peace and stability. He was active in the Chalfont VFW, and Commander 1996-97.

Jack was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He and Mary raised their family in Warminster, and later in Chalfont before retiring to Southampton together. A true Philadelphia fan, Jack never missed the Philadelphia Phillies or Eagles play. He enjoyed attending Penn State football games and traveling the world with his confidant and best friend, his wife. His family was his foremost priority and source of joy.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Decker Funeral Home, 216 York Road, Warminster, PA 18974, and welcomed to attend his memorial service immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, at 2:30 p.m.
