Barbara Lucas Stewart, age 76, died in Shawnee, Oklahoma, May 27, 2015.

Barbara was a longtime resident of Shawnee, born Aug. 14, 1938, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Theron M. and Mabel A. Lucas. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1956 where she was a member of the marching band and had the honor of being elected Shawnee’s first female honorary drum majorette. On Sept. 3, 1955, she married William Stewart. She was a teaching assistant for many years in California and Shawnee. Barbara loved spending time with family. She was an avid sports fan, cheering all Sooner sports and becoming a NBA fan with the installment of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Barbara is survived by her husband Bill of 59 years, sisters Sharon Bayes and Gail Edwards, brother Ron Lucas and wife Mary, son and daughter in law Bill and Katie Stewart, daughters and sons in law Dianne and Bill Lippman and Susan and Lloyd Fulton. She is also survived by grandchildren Matthew Lippman and wife Alicia, Adrianne Thompson and husband Kevin, Caroline Sharp and husband Matt, Andrew Stewart, Shayna Stewart, Michael Jordan, Jenna Befort and husband Kenneth, Amanda Lisenbery and husband Sean and great grandchildren Alexus and Brianna Befort, Emma and Paisley Lisenbery and Katelyn and Caroline Thompson. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara loved her family greatly and they will carry cherished memories in their hearts.
