Obituary From "Ottumwa Daily Courier," Monday, December 6, 1948, Page 19:

Mrs. Virginia Belle Schenck, 89-year-old former Ottumwan, died Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in a Peoria, Ill. hospital.

A resident of Ottumwa for a number of years, she was born October 13, 1859, in Lancaster, Mo.

Mrs. Schenck is survived by one son, Harry Schenck of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Crowell of Ottumwa and Mrs. Nellie Caldwell of Peoria, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Anna Muchenhaupt of Pershing, Iowa; and two brothers, Harrison Hanks of Lake City and Charles Hanks of Tampa, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnson Schenck in 1924; also by three daughters and one son.

The body will arrive in Ottumwa tonight and will be taken to the Johnson funeral chapel pending completion of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Belle Schenck, a former Ottumwa who died Sunday afternoon in a Peoria, Ill. hospital, will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Watson F. Lewis of the Plymouth Congregational church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
