Mrs. Virginia Belle Schenck, 89-year-old former Ottumwan, died Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in a Peoria, Ill. hospital.
A resident of Ottumwa for a number of years, she was born October 13, 1859, in Lancaster, Mo.
Mrs. Schenck is survived by one son, Harry Schenck of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Crowell of Ottumwa and Mrs. Nellie Caldwell of Peoria, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Anna Muchenhaupt of Pershing, Iowa; and two brothers, Harrison Hanks of Lake City and Charles Hanks of Tampa, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnson Schenck in 1924; also by three daughters and one son.
The body will arrive in Ottumwa tonight and will be taken to the Johnson funeral chapel pending completion of arrangements.
