STEVEN RICHENS Steven Stanley Richens, age 63, of LaPoint, passed away September 1, 2015, from an apparent heart attack while doing what he loved: driving the tractor on his farm. He was born June 14, 1952, in Vernal, to Audrey Etta Hardman and Karl Beatrice Richens. He married Debra Blonquist on March 10, 1978, in Park City. Steven was a welder by trade, but ranching and farming was what he liked to do best. He was a handyman who could fix and build just about anything. He enjoyed fishing, being in the mountains, prospecting, playing cards and a good cup of coffee. He was a really good cook. He was a member of the LDS Church. He had a kind and giving heart and cared about everyone. He was the first to help and would give the shirt off his back. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren. Steven is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debra; daughter, Jessica (Ryan) Christensen; son, Kenneth Karl Richens, grandchildren, Audie, Tyrek, Dakota, & Stetson Christensen, all of LaPoint; brothers and sisters, Linda Buck, TN; Sherm (Jacoy) Richens, Rod (Julie) Richens, both of Roosevelt; Leon (LeeAnn) Richens, LaPoint; Amy (Gerald) Compton, Randolph; Cindy Richens, WA; Patty (James) Winningham, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by those he dearly loved: his parents; a brother, Jack Richens; and father-in-law, Kenneth O'Neil Blonquist. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the LaPoint LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Altamont Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
