Funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Knut P. Nilson, pioneer resident of this city, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. W. Jackson, on Normal road, in DeKalb. Rev. G. P. Williams, of the Salem Lutheran church of this city, officiated. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery here.
Mrs. Nilson died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. W. Jackson with whom she had made her home since she moved from Sycamore two years ago.
Josie Lynn was born Feb. 2, 1866, in Hosaby, Mjelby Socken, Sweden. When a child she moved with her parents to this country and settled in Sycamore. She made her home here until two years ago when her health started to fail and she was removed to be cared for by her daughter in DeKalb.
She was married in Chicago on April 5, 1884, to Knut P. Nilson. Mr. Nilson with his brother Benjamin established the grocery firm of Nilson Bros. and continued in that business until 1902. Knut P. Nilson preceded his wife in death on Oct. 25, 1918.
Two daughters, Minnie Nilson Murray of Chicago and Pearl Nilson Jackson of DeKalb survive.
She was a member of the Salem Lutheran church of this city. She was loved and respected by her many friends here who greatly mourn her death.
