He was born Aug. 2, 1942, in New Braunfels, Texas, to the late Dominic and Stella (Bartsch) Aiello.

David was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a 1960 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force July 29, 1960, where he was a sergeant and served in Vietnam two times before being honorably discharged July 26, 1968.

For many years, he worked in Findlay for Prudential and Metropolitan Life insurance companies. A devoted blood, sweat and tears Chicago sports fan, he had a love for baseball, playing baseball, coaching in the Babe Ruth League and scoring his favorite teams. He was passionate about life and very proud of his family's Italian American heritage. He enjoyed Pasta Sundays and did everything to the extreme, including couponing.

He enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and watching classic movies. Politics and history were an integral part of his life, but much more than this "I did it my way."

His Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Kishore Kottana officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
