Francesco S. Calco, 94, of Olmsted Falls, OH passed away January, 10 2017.

Born and raised in Cleveland to Sarafina from Sicily and Basilio from Italy; eldest brother of Biagio, Teresa, Filadelfio, Angela, Salvatore; husband of the late Christina; father of Marcus (Janet), Frank, Teresa (Mark Dorow) and David (Marlene); grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of six.

After a rambunctious youth, Francesco served in the CCC, then four years in the Army Air Corps (8th Air Force, 100th Bomb Group) during WWII, then returned to Cleveland, followed by Christina (who he met and married in London) and son Marcus. Francesco received a commercial art degree and later graduated from the Cleveland Engineering Institute. He retired from NASA, where he received numerous awards and patents. Recognized as an accomplished artist, many of his excellent paintings have been displayed in NE Ohio throughout the years. Francesco was greatly loved and will be missed dearly.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 1 – 2 PM at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070, where funeral services will commence at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org.
