Funeral service for Earl P. Haynes, 84, will be today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Horton and Chief Gary Sparks will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Gardens, where he will be honored by the Oxford Fire Department.
Mr. Haynes went to be with his heavenly father, Saturday, August 16, 2014.
Mr. Haynes is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Doss Haynes; children, Mike Haynes (Cheryl), Vanessa George (Jackie), Tim Haynes (Kayle) and Steve Haynes (Cindi); grandchildren, Mikey Haynes, Alan George, Kelli Scott, Shannon Haynes, Christopher Haynes, Anthony George, Justin Haynes and Grace Blount; great- grandchildren, Tristan Cochran, Connor George, Aubree Haynes, Tara Haynes, Kynslee Haynes, Tori Haynes, Trey Haynes, Stone Scott, Tanner George and Cash Scott.
Pallbearers will be Mikey Haynes, Frank Scott, Alan George, Shannon Haynes, Christopher Haynes and Justin Haynes.
Mr. Haynes served as Assistant Fire Chief of Oxford since 1991 and served the citizens of Oxford for over 42 years in the Fire Department. Mr. Haynes worked for Flowers, Millbrook, and Harts Bakeries for over 40 years and made numerous friends throughout his career.
Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Mary Haynes and six brothers and one sister.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to Oxford Fire Department.
