Tarrytown - Mr. Don Calhoun, age 77, of Tarrytown, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Montgomery County, living in Vidalia for several years, and the Tarrytown area most of his life. Don was a 1955 graduate of Montgomery County High School, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked at Oxford Industries for several years, but most of his career was with the Vidalia and Lyons Police Departments, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Burma Calhoun.

Mr. Calhoun is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Barbara Ann Holmes Calhoun; three children, Donna Waller and husband Charles of Mt. Vernon, Shannon Calhoun and wife Regina of Lyons, and Leigh Spivey and husband Dewayne of Tarrytown; two sisters, Janice Wilson and husband Charles of Nahunta, and Lorene Strickland and husband Jesse of Tarrytown; one brother, David Calhoun and wife Frances of Sandersville; seven grandchildren, Charlie Waller, Ashley McIntyre, Matt Waller, Colby Calhoun, Kelsey Spivey, Kailey Spivey, and Amy Waller; six great-grandchildren, Emily Waller, Kash Waller, Kennedy McIntyre, Brooke Eades, Treavor Russell, and Denton Register; two aunts, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Dr. Keith Tipton officiating. Burial will follow in the Tarrytown City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
