HOMER - Mrs. Lena C.
McEvoy, 77, of Little York, died
Sunday morning at Cortland
Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 24, 1892 in
Preble, the daughter of Edward
and Anna Moss Collier, and was
the widow of John McEvoy, who
died in 1959.
Mrs. McEvoy was a member
and communicant of St. Leo's
Church, Tully, and a member of
the Altar and Rosary Society of
the Church. She was also a
member of Preble Garden Club,
Little York Community Club,
and Little York Grange.
A past board member of Cortland
Memorial Hospital, Mrs.
McEvoy was a member of the
Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and
founder of the Lena McEvoy
Scholarship Fund in connection
with Cortland County Extension
Service. Surviving are two sons
Kenneth and Gerald McEvoy, both
of Cortland: one daughter
Mrs. (Anna) Rich of Little
York: one sister, Mrs. Lydia
Strong of Preble; six grandchildren,
Michael, Kevin and
Nancy McEvoy, all of Cortland;
Charles and Thomas McEvoy,
both of Marathon, John Rich of
Little York, and several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from
the family residence, Rt. 281,
Little York, and 11 a.m. from
St. Leo's Church, where a
Concelebrated Mass will be
offered by the Rev. Joseph Nold,
pastor of St. Leo's Church; the
Rev. John Harrison, pastor of St.
Ann's Church, Manlius, and the
Rev. Charles Drumm, pastor of
St. Patrick's Church, Truxton.
Spring interment will be in
St. Leo's Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday evening
and Tuesday afternoon and evening
at the family home.
