Irene K. Merrick, 86, was born in Salt Lake City on June 21, 1928.

The sun was shining when Mom peacefully slipped away to be with the love of her life, Jack, on the morning of April 14, 2015.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She belonged to the 52 club, poker clubs, golf clubs, American Legion, and stock clubs.

She loved to read and travel spending many years as a snow bird with Jack and her friends. She genuinely loved life.

Mom was a loving caregiver throughout her life. Starting at the age of fourteen, she cared for her younger brother. Throughout the years, she opened her home to many whom she loved. Now, she is in the loving care of our Lord and Savior.

Survived by her children, Sharon Colebrook (Tim Smart), Diane (Tom) Phizacklea, and Gary (Julie) Merrick. Also survived by her seven loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Silverado Aspen Park care facility for the care they gave to Mom over the past eight months. Special thanks to Rocio, who was very special to Mom.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335 South Highland Drive (2000 East), Holladay, with a viewing forty-five minutes prior.
