Olive Frances Lipton, 83, the daughter of the first white woman born at Sutter's Fort, died Sunday in Watsonville Community Hospital after a brief illness.
She was a native of Watsonville and lived at 1377 Cole Road in Aromas. Before her retirement she taught school here for 30 years. She was a member of the Iowa chapters of the Eastern Star and White Shrine.
She leaves her husband, Robert E. Lipton of Aromas; three sisters, Letitia Oakes and Lea Reid, both of Redwood City and Bertha Seely of Los Gatos; and nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Robert Reid of Watsonville.
