He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ware, who preceded him in death. On December 27, 2003, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Emma Ware.
Charlie was employed at Gates Rubber Company in Versailles working in quality control for many years until his retirement.
He was an active member of the Versailles Second Baptist Church. There, he served as a deacon, president of the choir and Sunday school teacher for many years. Andy also served on the Versailles Park Board for many years, was a member of the Optimist Club, the “Midnight Gospels” singing group and the Layman’s church group. Andy also enjoyed attending the Wednesday morning “Men’s Coffee Club” held in the basement of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles.
Andy was an avid sports fan, playing catcher for many softball teams throughout the years. He was always cheering on his favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Andy enjoyed his many yearly trips with the “Basketball Guys” to the Final Four high school basketball tournament in Columbia.
In addition to his wife, Emma, he is survived by his sons, Charles “Chuck” Ware and wife Hannah of Sacramento, California and Shaun Ware and wife Donice of Versailles, Missouri; step-daughters, Tina Boggess and husband Al of Sedalia, Missouri, Denise “Kay” Morney of St. Charles, Missouri, Amelia Ann Moore and husband Rick of Versailles, Missouri and Tamara Hester of Versailles, Missouri; step-sons, Timothy Hester and wife Patricia of Versailles, Missouri and David Hester of Versailles, Missouri; nine grandsons, four granddaughters and numerous great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary Ware and wife Barbara of Hobart, Indiana; sister, Nettie Ware of Minneapolis, Minnesota and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Ware and Robert “Bobby” Ware.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, June 4th, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Robert Ross officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Lung Association.
