She attended the Lone Star Country School in Oakville. Velora was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a cook for the Head Start in Wapello for 30 years. Velora enjoyed dancing, horses, and travelling.
Her family includes three daughters, Lindel & Scott Sandvigen of Snohomish, Washington, Karen Baughman of Groveland, Illinois, and Lynette & Greg McKenna of Washington; three sons, Jack & Patty Coleman of Wapello, Donald & Kathi Coleman of Columbus Junction, and Ronald Coleman of Wapello; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Orletha Robertson of Columbus Junction and Leona & Lloyd Cross of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, grandson, brother, and sister.
Following cremation by choice a funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello with Rev. Claude Perhealth officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday prior to the funeral at the church and during a lunch fellowship following the burial.
