Forrest E. Asher, age 93, of Hooks, Texas, died Monday, June 27, 2016, in a local hospital. He was born November 1, 1922 in Pedricktown, New Jersey.
He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Army, having served in World War II and Korea. He was also a retired professor at East Texas State University and Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie Birtcher Asher of Hooks, Texas; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Pete and Janette Asher of Atlanta, Texas, Jim and Pam Asher of Texarkana, Texas, Kim and the late Cheryl Asher, of Hooks, Texas, and Michael and Melinda Asher, of Texarkana, Texas; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will have a private memorial at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
