Patrick Connolly Sr. was born in March 1851 in County Caven, Ireland. He married Ellen Agnes Purcell in 1883. They had five children in 10 years: Mary Francis (1884- 1964), Francis Xavier (1887-1972), Thomas William (1890-1971), Ellen (1891-), and Patrick Joseph (1894-1960). He was widely known in the "Horseshoe District" as a saloon keeper for over 45 years. He died in New Jersey.
