A longtime Evergreen resident, Pat passed away at Elk Run Assisted Living Center, where she had lived since 2013. A year of hospitals and rehabilitation had followed a catastrophic car accident in March of 2012. She was born to Fred and Eugenia Hughes. She met Dave at Washington University in St. Louis, and they married November 5, 1948, in the base Chapel at McClellan Air Force base, Sacramento, California. Life in the Air Force took them to several different bases. Pat and the children moved back to St. Louis when Dave was deployed to Korea. In 1959, the family moved to Evergreen, which became their permanent home. All four children graduated from Evergreen High School. After Dave passed away in 1977, Pat remained in the home owned by Rick and Renee until 2011 when she briefly lived at Rocky Mountain Village. Pat was well-known by many young people of Evergreen for working at Wilmot Elementary over thirty-plus years. She began in 1965 as cafeteria and playground monitor (one of the first teacher assistants in Jefferson County) and later working with first and second graders in reading, writing, and math. She also worked at US Bank for six years. She volunteered at ECHO Christian Outreach, Church of the Hills, and with young people at Wilmot, into her early 80s. Survivors included children: Susan Larsen, Littleton, Terry, Boulder, Rick (Renee), Evergreen, and Karen Bent, Lakewood; grandchildren Daril (Jason Blake), David, Patty, Lauren (Luke Weaver) , Zach, and Adam (Holly); and great-grandchildren Tatum and Reese Blake.
