Wife of the late John. Loving mother of Gil, Jim, and Joann (Dick) Sluka. Proud grandmother of Ann (Greg) Lukshaitis of Portland, Oregon.

Ann was born to James and Catherine Mackenzie in Largs, Scotland on September 21, 1927. She came to Detroit as an infant. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 1945 where she made many lifelong friends. She began a long career with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. in 1947. She married John (Lefty) Gallagher on St. Patrick's Day in 1950. They raised their family on West Parkway on Detroit's west side. After retiring in 1985, Ann and Lefty spent many years enjoying their cottage on Eagle Lake near Mancelona, and spent winters in Perdido Key, Florida with many of their old friends from the "group" from Northwestern High School. After Lefty died in 1998, Ann spent many years volunteering for Angela Hospice, The Southeastern Michigan Jazz Association, and the Costic Senior Center in Farmington Hills. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Isobel (Bunt), brother Bill, her special niece Catherine Gunn, and many wonderful friends.

Per Ann's request she has been cremated. A family graveside internment service will be held at Parkview Memorial Cemetery on August 26, 2016.
