James Austin "Kimo" Wilder was one of the pioneer Boy Scout leaders in the United States. He is considered by many as the founder of Sea Scouting. Wilder was the Chief Sea Scout for the Boy Scouts of America from 1917 until his death. Kimo Wilder was an artist, author and a world traveller. He spent much of his life travelling, but was born and died in Honolulu, Hawai'i, which he always considered home. He is buried in the Oahu Cemetary, Nu'uanu in Hononolulu. He was married to Sarah Harndon Wilder, who survived him and died in 1961. His life is detailed in "Wilders of Waikiki" by his daughter, Kinau Wilder.
