Member 48900130 (Theresa) raised an interesting possibility regarding Anstress' parentage. She wonders whether Anstress is the illegitimate child of Joseph Brown & Rachel Abbot (birth record source is below). The birth record has her name as "Anstress Brown", her gravestone has her surname as "Abbott". This is possibly the reason for the specific "Miss" on her gravestone. Her first name is very unusual and matches up very closely with the birth record with Joseph & Rachel.

"I conclude that Rachel Cochrane, when a girl, used to live on the farm in Master Billy's family, and became intimate with Joseph. He was the father of Rachel's daughter, Anstrie Abbott, b. Apr. 25, 1812. Rachel was published to Joseph B. Abbott, Dec. 1907. He deserted her, and before her marriage to Wm. Abbott (1819, of Hollis, N.H., she had Anstrie, a cripple, who lived a long while."
