DEATH OF MRS. DODGE
Wood River, Dec. 13. - Mrs. R. [sic] C. Dodge, wife of the late Freeman C. Dodge died last night at midnight after an illness of two hours in duration, the cause of her death being hemorrhage of the brain. The sudden news of her death this morning is a shock to the Wood River people, and following so close onto that of the death of her husband who died quite suddenly on Thursday, September 26, makes her departure the more tragic. She had been in good health and when the news of her death came this morning people could not believe it. She leaves but one daughter, Mrs. I. C. Williams, to mourn her departure, but has many friends throughout Hall county where she has resided for many years. She was united in marriage to Freman C. Dodge in 1867 [sic], some three years after he had located in Wood River in the western part of the county. To this union one child was born, Miss Gertie, who was united in marriage last winter to I. C. Williams, a prominent business man of this place. During her life, Mrs. Dodge had been a hardworking, industrious woman. Side by side with her husband she labored and saved until they became among the well to do people in the county. Since his death she has made her home with her daughter. She was a woman who had many friends for she was kind of heart and ever ready to aid in the time of sickness and distress. No arrangements have been made for the funeral.
