Avery Abbott funeral held
Funeral services were held Thursday at St. Barnabas' Episcopal Church for Mrs. Avery Abbott.
Mrs. Abbott died Dec. 3. She was a native of Chicago, Ill., and lived in the local area since 1935. She was a member of the Daughters of the King at St. Barnabas, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Auxiliary of the Purple Heart. She was a member of Amaranth, and served as worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Burlington, Colorado.
She was also a corresponding member of "The Westerners," a men's organization of people brought up in the west. She worked for Arthur H. Clark Publishers, and with the "History of Civilization" department at Occidental College.
She leaves two sons, Charles and Arthur;
two daughters, Jean Miller and Roberta McLain;
nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and
a brother, Arthur J. Edwards.
Fr. Stanley Adams, rector of St. Barnabas, officiated at the services, with interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Pasadena.
