The community was surprised to hear of the death of Mrs. Abby D. Abbott, widow of the late Stephen D. Abbott, which occurred quite suddenly at the home of Mrs. Hayward on School St last Sunday.
Deceased was 72 years of age and was an old and respected resident of the town. The cause of her death was pneumonia, and her sickness lasted but about six days.
She was a lady of a genial disposition, Christian character being a member of the Free Church, kind hearted and one who had a large number of friends who will mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held at Christ Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Frederic Palmer officiating. Burial took place in the South Church cemetery.
