ABBOTT, ALBERT C. — A wave of sorrow passed over Fillmore county when it became known Sunday morning that Al Abbott had passed away at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd H. Abbott of Fairmont. As the result of a slight stroke of paralysis last August, the deceased had been in failing health, though members and friends of his immediate family continued hopeful of his recovery until his condition became more serious during the past week, resulting in his death early Sunday morning.
A resident of Fillmore county for many years, Al Abbott had gained a wide acquaintance in this locality. It is said that few among us are more widely known or more highly respected than was he. Congenial, upright, truthful, and honest in his associations with his fellow citizens, he was prominent and influential with all who knew him best and shared his activities in the common walks of life.

Albert C. Abbott, son of Levi P. and Sarah Cuppy Abbott, was born in the vicinity of North Manchester, Wabash county, Indiana, august 4, 1867. He died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law in Fairmont, Neb., December 3, 1939, aged 72 years, 3 months, and 26 days.
In the spring of 1876 his parents removed with their family to Iowa, settling near Afton in Union county, after having resided two years in Apmanoose, county, Iowa. It was in these localities the deceased grew to manhood.
February 15, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Mae Nichols, daughter of John and Mary Nichols of Lebanon, Neb., in which vicinity they continued to make their home until March 1912, when they moved to Fillmore county, Nebraska, four miles southeast of Fairmont, in which location they had continued their home.
To this union one son, Floyd H. of Fairmont, was born.
Besides a host of neighbors and friends, the deceased leaves to mourn his departure his beloved companion, his son and daughter-in-law, and their daughter Elizabeth, who has ever been a source of comfort and pride to her grandparents. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Wilbur A. Gripp of Afton, Ia., and two brothers, Frank M. of Osceola, Ia., and George E. of Lebanon, Neb., and a brother-in-law, Robert Nichols of Johnson, Neb., six nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hrubesky funeral home at Geneva by Rev. Isaac Cassel of the Federated church of Fairmont following a brief service at the late residence. The music consisted of two quartet numbers and a solo. The singers were Mrs. Monroe Usher, Mrs. Mabel Quintin, W. E. Black and Wayne Malsbery. Mr. Malsbery sang the solo. Mrs. Jessie Philson was the accompanist. The pallbearers were Lee and C. J. Watson, Harry Bergstrand, Wells Stephenson, Harry Moon, and Harry Schneider. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
