Billy Franklin Abee, age 68, of Union, SC, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, March 4, 2011.

Born in Florence, SC, on March 20, 1942, son of the late Vernon Vester Abee (1913–1966) and Irene Decker Abee Childers (1919–1992); husband of Carolyn Holcombe Abee for 50 and would have celebrated their anniversary on March 11, 2011.

Retired from Cone Mill; was an avid gardner and wood carver, having co-founded the Union Carving Group which he hosted every week at his home for the past several years; played the guitar for the gospel group the Pathlighters, also was the guitarist at his church, Victory Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing guitar with his friends.

He was listed in the fourth volume of "Who's Who in Indian Relics" as a member of the Piedmont Archaeology Society which includes SC, NC, VA, and TN; was also a member of the Union Masonic Lodge #75, the Historical Society of Union Co., and the Romeo Club; was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; his children were the apple of his eye, his grandchildren are grand, but the great-grandchildren are great he always said.

Other survivors include his son, Johnny Abee (Cynthia); daughter, Tammie Brewington (David); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Fred (Bubba) Howard who was like a son.

Also predeceased by a sister, Mary Alice Cranford; and a brother, Robert Lee Abee.

A celebration of life service was held at 3:00 pm, Monday, March 7, 2011, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. J. R. Carrigan and Rev. Robert Branch; burial was in Union Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.
