He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Julius Gilbert and Nannie Ewing Abee, husband of the late Mary Stewart Abee, father of the late Judy Abee Neagle, lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Belmont, deacon, member of choir, retired after 38 years as a master mechanic, worked with H&K Chevrolet and McKinney Chevrolet.
