A memorial service will be noon Thursday, May 24, 2007, in the Portland Gun Club for Harry Houston Abernethy, who died May 16 at age 98.
Mr. Abernethy was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Newberg. He graduated from Newberg High School and served in the Army. He moved to Welches in 1936 and was a logging operator. He married Elise Jungnickel in 1936; she died in 1985.
Survivors include his niece, Ida Tetro, and nephew, Harry C. Abernethy.
