Buffalo Courier Buffalo NY Mar 31 1908 pg 7: Officials of the Lackawanna Steel Company are called upon to mourn the loss of Erwin Abplanalp, general foreman of the pattern department at the plant and one of the best known and most popular men in this entire works, which in ordinary times employes upwards of 7,000 men.
The malady which carried off Mr Abplanalp was typhoid fever.
He had been ill for 4 weeks and hopes had been entertained that he would recover. He lived at No 72 Woodside Ave and was happy in the married life.
His wife and one child survive.
His father John Abplanalp lives in this city, his mother having died.
Brothers Emanuel and Walter and sisters Mildred and Gertrude also live here.
The funeral was held at Forest Lawn Wed afternoon.
