Mrs. Alice Acker, Civil War Widow, Dies
Mrs. Alice Acker, 86, widow of Charles Acker, well known Hartford farmer and Civil war veteran who died eight years ago, passed away early Monday morning at her home on Haver street, where she had resided for the past 20 years.
Funeral rites for her were held from the Zuver and Calvin chapel this afternoon, the Rev. Thomas Pollard, Methodist pastor, officiating and interment was in Maple Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Acker, daughter of William H. and Adaline Williams, was born in Ashtabula county, Ohio, on April 23, 1853. Her death on May 1, 1939, made her span of life 86 years and 7 days. Her death followed an illness of several weeks during which she was care for by Mrs. Frank Lamb who had been her companion for the past seven years.
She was married to Charles Acker of Hartford on June 28, 1871 and their entire married life was spent in and near Hartford. Mrs. Acker leaves no relatives, but was endeared to many friends through her cheerful and kindly ways.
