Andrew Acker was born in 1861/1862 In Illinois, son of Levi Acker and Martha J. Jordan. On 25 August 1870, Levi, his parents, and siblings Ellen and Willard lived in Traverse township, Grand Traverse County. Levi and Ellen had attended school in the last year. On 28 June 1880, Andrew lived in a lumber camp in Grant township, Grand Traverse County. Andrew died on 15 May 1881 and was buried in Linwood Cemetery. The Grand Traverse Herald noted: Andrew Acker died on last Sunday week of consumption. His remains were buried at the Long Lake cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Cook at the Central school house ("Died," Grand Traverse Herald, 26 May 1881, page 2, column 5).
