Burt Acker, Lodi Officer Drops Dead
Constable Passes Away While Seeking Advice From Physician
Burt F. Acker, constable of Elkhorn township since January 1, 1919, dropped dead yesterday afternoon about 2:15 o'clock while seeking medical advice in the office of Dr. H.J. Bolinger. His sudden death was entirely unexpected and came as a great shock to his many friends and relatives in this district.
Acker went to his office as usual yesterday morning, but complained of not feeling well and stated that he intended to remain home for the day. He was a man who had never known sickness. Death was held due to a heart attack.
He was born in Iowa, but came to Lodi with his parents, the late John and Mary Acker, when but four years of age. He graduated from Salem school and then engaged in the blacksmithing business here, an occupation he followed until his election as constable in 1918. He repeatedly succeeded himself in office.
The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Clara Acker of Lodi; father of Mildred Costello, Lodi; brother of Mrs. Jessie Parsons, Lodi; Mrs. Maud Acker, Escalon; Del Acker, Lodi.
The body was taken in charge by Hale & Bawden. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:15 from the chapel of Hale & Bawden.
