Ackerman Rites Conducted at Downey Chapel
NORWALK, April 14 – Funeral services for Charles D. Ackerman, 48 years of age, president of the Norwalk Community Service Organization, who died Monday, as a result of being struck accidentally by a crane chain in the yards of the Consolidated Steel Company, several days ago, were conducted today at the Miller undertaking parlors in Downey. An autopsy held yesterday revealed the fact that death resulted from injuries to the skull.
He leaves a brother in Beverly, Mich., two sisters in Chicago, one in Traverse City, and one in Ann Arbor, Mich. He leaves his widow and five children, Elizabeth, Carl, Porter, Irvin and Julia. Source: The Los Angeles Times (Los Angeles, California), Friday, 15 April 1932, page 8.
