Alta Ackerman

Alta Mary Ackerman, 96, of Lodi, died July 21 in Lodi. She was born May 11, 1908, in Grants Pass, Ore.

Ms. Ackerman graduated from Paradise Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Southern California in 1933. She was employed as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1978. She moved to Portland in 1993 and then to Lodi in 1998. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and reading. She also enjoyed animals, especially cats. She was a member of Lodi English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Ackerman, of Acampo, and John Ackerman, of the Philippines.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Harriet Ackerman, Frances Munson, Emily Fowler, Dorothy Allen and Jean Wells; and brothers, Byron Ackerman and Maurice Ackerman.

Committal will be private at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita. There will be no visitation.
