Funeral services for C. H. Acklen, 87, who died yesterday at his home here after a lengthy illness, were at 2 p.m. today in the Green-Kleinegger Chapel with Dr. Truman Aldredge officiating. Burial was in Minden Cemetery.

Mr. Acklen was a retired farmer.

He is survived by five sons: L.P. Acklen of Texas City, TX, J. Ernest "Shorty" Acklen of Texas City, Texas., Homer Dee Acklen of Minden, William E."Bill" Acklen of Baton Rouge and Jimmie J. "Jim" Acklen of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. D.A. (Marie) Moorehead of Minden and Mrs. Edgar (Mary Lou) Lilly of Romulus, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. J.L. Morgan of Athens and Mrs. J.F. Craighead of Homer; and 12 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife, Evie Effie Cardwell Acklen and son, Louis, Missing In Action in the Navy on March 1, 1943.

Charles H. Aklen was born on month day 1875, at birth place, Louisiana, to Aron A Acklen and Fredonia M Acklen (born Howard).
Aron was born on November 29 1845, in Texas, United States.
Fredonia was born on September 2 1851, in Muscogee Co., Georgia.
Charles had 8 siblings: oscar acklen, Dee Lafayette Acklen and 6 other siblings.
Charles married Evie Effie Aklen (born Cardwell) on month day 1905, at age 29 at marriage place, Louisiana.
Evie was born on June 12 1881, in Alabama, United States.
They had 3 children: L. P. Acklen and 2 other children.

I have no obituary or other information on Uncle L.P. and Aunt Ethel. Any help with this for a memorial for them would be appreciated.
