Allen "Al" Yore Ackroyd, 81 of Nampa, died Saturday, March 9, 1996, at his home, following a lengthy struggle with cancer. Allen was born on January 16, 1915, at Magrath, Alberta, Canada, to Smith and LaVerna Coleman Ackroyd. He married Charlotte Maxine Bullock on March 17, 1942. Their marriage was later sealed for time and all eternity in 1958 at the Los Angeles, California, L.D.S. Temple. Shortly after his marriage, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1944 and returned to Los Angeles, where he started his career the the Los Angeles Times newspaper. He then became one of the top salesman at A.E. Nugente Chevrolet. He later went to work for Fleetwood Trailers in Anaheim, California. In November of 1958, he was transferred to Nampa where he continued with Fleetwood and they made their home. He later retired as General Manager, and they have resided in Nampa since. Al was a member of the Nampa 8th Ward L.D.S. Church. He enjoyed many hobbies, including fly fishing, playing golf, flying his airplane, and above all, his love for his God, his country and world conditions.

Al is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Nampa; 2 daughters, Sharon Ackroyd, Boise, Terry Stewart and her husband Randy, Boise; son Robert Ackroyd, Middleton; 1 brother, Roy Ackroyd, Poison, Montana; 2 sisters and their husbands, LaVerna and Farres Nyuman, Logan, Utah, Alice and Wynn Fife, Linden, Utah; 5 grandchildren, Marti, Jay and Tyler Stewart, Booke Hautzinger, Mikel Chapman and her husband, Joshua; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and special friends he gathered during his life.
