ACOSTA ABEL GOMEZ
Abel Gomez Acosta, 79, of Victoria died December 12, 2005 at his residence. He was born July 3, 1926 in Bay City to Baldemero and Estella Gomez Acosta.
He was a member of the American Legion, GI Forum, and was a talented self-taught musician who once appeared on Austin City Limits.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Amelia Acosta and a daughter, Linda Acosta.
Survivors include two daughters & a son-in-law; Amelia Acosta of Houston and Gayle & Joe Mireles of Port Lavaca, by three sisters; Esther Acosta & Mary Ann Cervantes both of Bay City and Alice Villarreal of Corpus Christi; three brothers, Gilbert Acosta and Anthony Acosta both of Bay City and Albert Acosta of Houston; five grandchildren, Joe Albert Mireles, Gayle Linda Mireles, & Abel Pedro Mireles all of Port Lavaca, Samantha Short of West Virginia and Mirissa Short of West Columbia; and his devoted companion, Martha Ogle of Victoria.
Rosary will be 7:30 PM Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Mass 10:00 am Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City [Matagorda County, Texas]. 979-245-4613.
