Mildred Bleyl Adair passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 1997, surrounded by her family.

Born on December 12, 1920, in Houston, she had lived in Austin since 1978 devoting her time to family and loved ones. Born of German immigrant parents, Millie was a woman of quiet strength, with a deep devotion in her divine Father. She was a unique but simple woman whose remarkable character had been, and will always remain a guiding beacon of kindness, patience, unconditional love, and a goodness that encompassed all who came into her life. Our memories of her are ones of joy and laughter, of keen insight and compassion, and of relentless vitality and love of life.

Despite a dozen years of painful and debilitating illness, Millie held fast to the belief that her life was one of great richness. She was greatly devoted to her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as a legion of friends; each of us knew her as a tireless ally, an ever-sympathetic ear, and a loving shoulder on which to cry. We will miss her self-deprecating wit, her energetic enthusiasm, and her incomparable inner beauty. Most of all, we will miss deeply the softness of her heart.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Adair; her children, James Lee and his wife Charl, Robert Charles, Tina Marie, and Michael Paul and his wife, Marlene; her grandchildren, Timothy James Zeke and wife Angela, April Lee and husband Jim, Sean Michael, Molly Bleyl, Emma Margaret and Rory Adair, and her great-grandchildren, Zachari, Ali and Franklin.

Services commemorating Millie's life will be held in Houston at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1101 Antoine at Katy Freeway on Monday, October 20, 1997. A celebration with family and all those who knew and loved Millie is scheduled in Austin at her home for Tuesday, October 21, 1997.
