He passed most of his life upon the paternal farm, (N, D., 25,) but for a few years soon after the opening of the turnpike through the town, in the early years of the nineteenth century, he kept a tavern in the old parsonage at the corner (N. D., 2)7,) where the road turns to Mill Brook. It was an exceptionally orderly house, as might be inferred from the fact that he is said to have been the first man in the town to carry on his farm, without the use of rum. He was interested in military matters, and attained the rank of major, by which title he was known until his death.

Parents: Benjamin Adams and Priscilla Adams
